The Digital Arts Experience Celebrates One Year

By Cristina Calabrese, Director of Operations at The Digital Arts Experience.

The Digital Arts Experience (The DAE) of White Plains celebrated its one year anniversary party on Thursday, July 11th. The event commemorated a year being open for business since its official “digital” ribbon cutting in 2012.

Starting promptly at 6:30PM, friends, family, DAE coworkers, customers, business partners and the like began to trickle through the wooden doors and into the 8,000 sq.ft facility. Attendees were greeted warmly and welcomed into the space by DAE staff members and interns.

The facility itself was decorated with student work on the walls, TV screens looping DAE promotional videos that showcased its services, and tables set up for the sponsors of the evening: Yonkers Brewing Co. & Aries Fine Wine & Spirits who served fine beers and wine, CMIT Solutions provided a giant “Mondopad”, ShopRite of White Plains donated trays of food, and the ever-so entertaining character Chef Johnson parked his truck outside The DAE and cooked up his tasty all natural comfort food.

Before long, 50-60 people were in attendance. The Mayor of White Plains, Thomas Roach kicked off the event by saying a few kind words about the importance of The DAE’s presence in the White Plains community, stating, “Having a group like Digital Arts here is part of that recipe that I think is going to change this city for the better and keep it moving forward in a very competitive environment”.

Rob Kissner, President and CEO of The DAE, shortly afterward shared a 5 minute video, saying, “In celebration of the one year anniversary of our opening, we created this video to highlight our first year in business. From the construction of our facility to our first classes, this video showcases the development and metamorphosis of The DAE into the community that it is today.”  Short speeches were made afterward by Cristina Calabrese, Director of Operations, and Rob to share their experience starting up The DAE and how it has evolved.
