Project: “The Ultimate Castle” 3D Print
Class: 3D Printing with Minecraft
“I was really proud of my acheivement. It took 4 days to build, but it was totally worth it!”
Looking for inspiration on what to build, 10-year Tarence stumbled upon the castle chapter in his Minecraft Handbook. He knew right away he wanted to design his own castle. In creative mode, Tarence built his structure from the ground up, building four towers at each corner, complete with stairs and even a fountain in the courtyard. Tarence built his castle over the course of 4 days, and the actual print took about 5 hours to 3D print.
Project: Custom Monster Modeling
Class: It’s Alive! Bringing Monsters to Life with Blender
Do you think 3D Modeling a monster is hard? It’s actually quite simple, especially with the program Blender which is free to download. The students start by drawing their character sheets, which includes a front, top, and side view of their monster. After they sketch, they jump right into Blender and begin the structure of their ferocious figure. Some students make their monster a cyclops or give them a crazy number of eyes! The possibilities are virtually endless. Take a look at some of the progress:
The Digital Arts Experience aims to provide a unique opportunity for the kids & teens of the Westchester, Rockland, and Fairfield communities to explore the world of creative technology, digital art, STEAM-related fields and more! Their programs are goal oriented and focus on hands-on learning so each and every student will complete his or her class with incredible original work that can go towards creating a portfolio. The DAE strives to expose its’ students to the digital world in order to help them discover new talents and possible career paths.
